It would also add something in between the Color Oops and dye application so your hair wouldn't do anything as crazy when it hits the dye. It does actually do a tiny bit of damage, but it's way nicer than bleach, and you could use a dye afterwards. One thing that always worked better for me was L'oreal Color Zap. It's not just that your hair is more porous and can take color in WAY faster and darker/ashier it's that when you use color oops, what you're doing is turning those old dye molecules clear and rinsing them out to remove as much of that pigment as you can, but there's almost always some clear molecules in there just waiting to turn back dark again. My concern is, like I said, that the developer in dye (the white goopy stuff you mix the dye into) is what can reactivate those dark dye molecules.
